What is the content of the online curriculum?
The curriculum is presented in the following courses, which must be completed within the six month timeline:
EDTC 5000 – Overview to The Road to Certification
EDTC 5100 – First Year Teaching and Best Practice
EDTC 5200 – Educational Pedagogy and Stages of Learning
EDTC 5300 – Planning Instruction and Assessment
EDTC 5400 – Best Practice and Classroom Environment
EDTC 5500 – Literacy and Its Importance
EDTC 6500 – Meeting the Needs of All Students: Special Education/Multiculturalism/Diversity Measurement and Assessment
When can I participate in the instructional course work?
The instructional courses are designed to provide you with knowledge on educational pedagogy and professional responsibilities. In turn, the courses will prepare you not only to be the best teacher you can be, but also for your TExES PPR test. Once you have successfully completed the online Comprehensive Review, you will be eligible for test approval to take the TExES PPR.
Access to the course work is provided to the candidate upon receipt of the Letter of Agreement, the Personal Payment Plan information and the paid access fee. It is at this time that the six-month timeline begins. The introduction course and the six instructional courses must be completed within the six-month timeline.
All candidates must complete the course work, even if they have completed education courses in college or elsewhere. For iteachTEXAS to recommend a candidate for full certification, he/she must complete our course work successfully.
Will I receive feedback on my course work?
Your performance of all assignments will be evaluated, and feedback will be provided by your instructor.
