Continuing Education: Purposes

The main purposes of the professional development modules are to:

• Offer current and useful training and information for all educators that will make them more effective in their chosen career.
• Present a convenient way for educators with a Texas Standard Certificate to complete the CPE hours necessary to renew their certification.
• Provide an accessible means for educators to satisfy the initial (30 hours) and yearly (6 hours) requirements necessary for the Gifted/Talented Endorsement.
• Give teachers an opportunity to get the special training they need in order to add specialized endorsements (ESL, Special Ed, etc.) to their certificate.
