Teacher Certification (Domestic): Application

Complete and submit an online application
An email confirming receipt of your online application will be sent to you. If you do not receive an email within five minutes, please contact the office at 940-383-8100 during business hours.

Please download an application checklist to ensure that you have provided with all the appropriate information that is needed to process your application packet. Incomplete application packets will not be considered for program admissions and all materials will be destroyed.

The application fee is non-refundable.

Applications will be retained for six months. If all required information is not received in six months, the file will be destroyed and you will have to re-apply to the program and pay an additional application fee.  Please do not send transcripts before you apply to the program.  If we receive transcripts without an application, transcripts will be destroyed. 

Submit official transcripts
Official transcripts from ALL universities/colleges attended must be submitted.
Candidates will NOT be evaluated until we receive transcripts from each institution.

To facilitate the processing of your application, once you have all of your transcripts in your possession, send them in one package to the office. Please do not send unofficial printouts or copies of transcripts. You are encouraged to open the transcript envelope to determine if all of the requirement information appears on your transcripts. Opened transcripts are still considered Official if the university seal or appropriate language appears on the transcript.

An original Foreign Credential Review from an approved agency must be provided if you graduated from a university outside the United States or U.S. Territories. Transcripts from a foreign university are not accepted.

An original Foreign Credential Review from an approved agency must be provided if you graduated from a university outside the United States. Your application will not be processed without all official transcripts. Your final transcripts must indicate a degree conferred. Please send application and/or transcripts to:

Your conferred degree must be from an accredited institution as required by the State Board for Educator Certification.

Transfer course work: If you completed coursework at multiple colleges you must provide all transcripts.   The evaluation of your transcripts will not begin until all official transcripts are received.  If you fail to list all attended schools on your application, your transcripts will be evaluated without transfer course work and may limit you to the qualified content areas, or you may be denied to the program due to no content area.

Graduates from universities (e.g. Excelsior) lacking a residency requirement (e.g. last 24 semester hours earned at graduating institution) must provide official transcripts of all colleges and universities attended.

Criminal Record
If you have ever been arrested for, charged with or convicted of felony criminal offense/s of any type and/or crimes involving moral turpitude for which you were incarcerated in any county or state penal institution, paroled from any county or state penal institution, and/or placed on probation or deferred adjudication for said offense/s you will not be accepted into the program.

Service Record
If you have previously taught in the state of Texas a Service Record must be provided with your transcripts.  If you have been employed as the Teacher of Record for three years or more, due to your years of service you are not eligible for the program.

Release Letter
If you are or have been participating in another alternative program, you must provide a release letter from the other program identifying your good status in the program.  If you hold a current probationary certificate through another program you are not eligible for the  alternative certification program. 

Verification of Immigration/Citizenship status-
If you are not a US citizen, verification of lawful permanent residence and a copy of Green Card must be provided at the time of application.

Proof of Oral English Language Proficiency
The Internet based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is the approved test for foreign applicants to provide evidence of oral English language proficiency for Texas Certification. A copy TOEFL registration bulletin may be downloaded from their website. If you already hold verification of English proficiency, you may include that information with your application packet.
