Before starting these lessons, I had never understood the diversity of the students that I would be teaching. After reviewing the information in the modules, I realized how important it is to understand the cultural heritage, language and learning styles of these students. I have been able to apply this in the classroom.

I especially enjoyed the areas of behavioral modification and management. I have always had a special place in my heart for troubled youth. I enjoyed being able to get another perspective on why some of these behaviors may be occurring. Exploring the special education system in the schools was another area that was special to me. I enjoyed getting a better understanding of this system and the rights of students within the educational system.

The assignment that I consider to be major was the assignment that required me to create a class web page; it was the most unnerving academic experience I have had in a long time. What I found in this assignment was a determination to reach beyond the familiar and discover how to incorporate technology into my lesson planning and instructional strategies. Using this method has truly changed my approach to teaching, and I want my students to have the same experience that I am having teaching them, which is the ability to take on a new way of learning.
